From the Pastor's Pen
May
2008
May is a month to recognize special people
and accomplishments in
our lives. We honor our mothers on
Mother’s Day, we honor our graduates, and
we honor the memory of those who died for
our freedoms on
Memorial Day. May begins with
another special day: the
National Day of Prayer on the first Thursday,
which falls on May 1st this year. It is a day for us
to pray for America. There has never been a
greater need to pray for America than now. As
our nation prepares to elect a new president, and
we struggle with economic stresses and a war in
Iraq, and the morality of our nation sinks lower
and lower, we need to cry out to Almighty God
on behalf of our nation.
Francisco Rodriguez has begun having worship
services in Spanish in our youth center on
Sundays at 5:00 p.m. He is beginning this
mission from scratch, so it will take patience and
prayer as it grows. There are flyers about the
Spanish mission in the Welcome Center and
front lobby. Pick up a flyer and give it to anybody
you know who may be interested.
One of the best mission projects we do every
year is just around the corner: Vacation Bible
School on June 9-13. You can register on the
church website at www.fbcrincon.com. Get
involved in VBS and you will be blessed!
See you Sunday with a Bible in your hand and
the Risen Son shining on your face!
Your pastor,
Bob Rogers
