Dr. Bob Rogers, Pastor

Brother Bob has been our senior pastor since June, 1999. He grew up moving all around the country and world, as his father was a chaplain in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Mississippi College (B.A. in English) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div. in Biblical Studies, Th.D. in Church History).  He is very involved in Southern Baptist life. He served as a trustee of the North American Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention from 2000 to 2008, and is currently serving on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention.

Brother Bob's preaching style is conversational and Bible-based, often includes PowerPoint and occasionally other creative methods such as dramatic monologue. His greatest desire as pastor is to lead the church to make an eternal difference in the lives of the families in Effingham County by sharing God's saving grace with people one by one, and helping them to grow in their faith and love for one another. He and his family are big sports fans, and he enjoys writing. He blogs at www.bobrogers.me and writes a weekly column in the Effingham Herald called "Holy Humor" (see the home page for a sample). His wife Mary is the receptionist at Rincon Elementary School, and they have three children: Melissa, who is married and lives in Virginia; Lauren, who is married and lives in Mississippi; and Wade, who is a student at Georgia Tech.
