Dr. Bob Rogers, Pastor

Brother Bob became our pastor in 1999, having previously served 19 years in the pastorate in Mississippi. He grew up moving all around the country and world, as his father was a chaplain in the U.S. Army. He graduated from Mississippi College (B.A. in English) and New Orleans Baptist Seminary
(M.Div. in Biblical Studies, Th.D. in Church History). He serves on the board of trustees of the North American Mission Board [www.namb.net] of the Southern Baptist Convention [www.sbc.net].

Brother Bob's preaching style is conversational and Bible-based, and often includes Powerpoint and occasionally other creative methods such as dramatic monologue. His greatest desire as pastor is to lead the church to make an eternal difference in the lives of the families in Effingham County by sharing God's saving grace with people one by one, and helping them to grow in their faith and love for one another. He and his family are big sports fans, and he enjoys writing. He writes a weekly column in the Effingham Herald called "Holy Humor" (see the home page for a sample). His wife Mary is the receptionist at Rincon Elementary School, and they have three children: Melissa, who is married and lives in Virginia, Lauren, who is a college student, and Wade, who is in high school.
